Skippers who sail on boats that are chartered usually are not aware of the risks they take. Nor they are conscious of how easy it is to reduce those risks with an insurance. Having years of experience in sailing and insurance matters, we developed special insurance products that suit the needs of private skippers.

Skipper third party liability insurance It’s a subsidiary insurance that covers claims arising from damages you make to third parties. Damages to the chartered vessel caused due to gross negligence are also covered. As hull insurance of the yacht does not cover gross negligence at all, this is a key point.

Skipper accident insurance If you are involved in an accident and damage suffer an injury, the skipper accident insurance pays for disability. Bone fractures, however, are not covered because bones heal. Insured is the permanent loss of an organ according to the terms and conditions. We also include death and rescue of people.

Skipper deposit insurance This is a subsidiary insurance that covers claims arising from damages you make to third parties. Damages to the chartered boat made by gross negligence are also included. As the hull insurance does not cover gross negligence at all, it’s the key point in skipper’s insurance.

Skipper charter loss insurance Severe damages to a chartered boat may not be possible to repair before the next booked trip begins. In such situations, you may expect the charterer to present a claim and render you liable for the financial loss arisen. This risk may be covered, too.

Charter cancellation insurance If one of your crew members is diagnosed with a severe illness makes their participation in the trip impossible, the person in question may cancel the trip and recover their payment (deductible  20 %). This includes also an illness of next of kin. In case the skipper is unable to embark due to illness, all crew members may cancel the trip. This rule makes a big difference in comparison to other insurance products.

Important: The cover concerns the skipper as well as his crewmembers. Guests may be insured separately. We can provide separate insurance products for crews.

Skipper insurance is valid throughout a calendar year. That means it always ceases on the December 31st of each year.
